Union Minister Calls For Timely Completion Of Projects To Transform Hailakandi Into A Developed District.

Guwahati, Assam, 29th of May, 2025 : Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, has directed district officials to expedite all pending development works to facilitate Hailakandi’s transformation from an aspirational district into a developed one.

The Minister issued the directive during a review meeting with Deputy Commissioner Shri Nisarg Hivare and senior administrative officials, concluding her three-day visit to the district. She emphasized the importance of leveraging Hailakandi’s abundant natural resources to launch new livelihood-generating projects and boost local incomes.

Smt. Bambhaniya arrived in Hailakandi on Monday to assess the implementation of various government schemes under the Aspirational Districts Programme. On the first day of her visit, she inspected the Food Corporation of India’s paddy storage facility at Lalabazar and held discussions with district officials on the progress of key initiatives.

During her stay, the Union Minister interacted with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), local artisans and members of self-help groups (SHGs). She expressed satisfaction with the active participation of women-led SHGs in promoting socio-economic development in the region.

The Minister also reviewed departmental efforts in education, healthcare, agriculture, animal husbandry, rural development, public health engineering and the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission. She offered constructive suggestions and issued necessary instructions to accelerate progress in poverty alleviation measures.

The Union Minister during these days also visited  Anganwadi Centre at Sultanichera under the South Hailakandi Development Block. Engaging with local parents and community members, she encouraged them to send their children to Anganwadi Centres regularly to build a strong foundation in early childhood education.
