Dharmanagar, Tripura, 1st of June, 2026 : In strong protest against the attack on three journalists while they were covering the Charak Fair at Padmapur School Ground in Dharmanagar, the North District Committee of Voice of Media submitted a deputation to Officer- in-Charge Mina Debbarma of Dharmanagar Police Station on Monday afternoon.

Members of the organization’s North District Committee visited the police station and demanded that those responsible for the attack be identified immediately, brought under the ambit of the law, and given exemplary punishment. In the deputation, they urged the police administration to identify the accused and take appropriate action within the next 48 hours.The organization also demanded adequate security for working journalists, a safe and obstruction-free environment for carrying out professional duties during news coverage, and effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Representatives of Voice of Media stated that attacks on media personnel are attacks on democracy and freedom of expression. Therefore, a fair investigation and speedy justice in the matter are essential.All members of the Voice of Media North District Committee were present during the submission of the deputation.The organization further stated that if satisfactory action is not taken by the administration within the stipulated time, they will be compelled to launch a broader democratic movement.
