Dharmanagar, Tripura, 13th of July 2026 : The Dharmanagar branch of the World Maitri Cultural Council is set to organize the second edition of its seven-day cultural competition, ‘Oikotane 1433,’ beginning on July 16. A press conference was held at Kalamandal in Dharmanagar on Monday at 5:00 PM to announce the event and outline its objectives, schedule, and various competitions.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were former Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission Barnali Goswami, World Maitri Cultural Council (Dharmanagar Branch) President Santosh Sutradhar, Secretary Monika Bhattacharya, Adviser Amalendu Chowdhury, Assistant Secretary Amita Nath, along with other members of the organization and distinguished guests.
The organizers stated that, following the success of last year’s event, this year’s festival will once again bring together participants from North Tripura and the neighboring hill districts. The week-long programme will feature competitions in recitation, quiz, dance, Bengali songs, and several other cultural disciplines. Contestants from different age groups will be eligible to participate.According to the organizers, the primary objective of the World Maitri Cultural Council is to unite Bengalis living across the world through a shared cultural bond while promoting the rich heritage of the Bengali language, literature, music, recitation, and dance among the younger generation.
Preserving, nurturing, and passing on Bengali culture and traditions to future generations remains one of the organization’s key missions.Speakers at the press conference emphasized that the rapid advancement of technology has created new challenges for cultural activities. In this context, they said, competitive cultural events like ‘Oikotane 1433’ play a vital role in encouraging children, adolescents, and young people to stay connected with Bengali culture and heritage.The Dharmanagar branch of the World Maitri Cultural Council has extended a cordial invitation to cultural enthusiasts, students, and aspiring participants from North Tripura and the neighboring districts to take part in ‘Oikotane 1433.’ The organizers expressed confidence that this year’s event would be larger in scale and witness greater participation than the previous edition.
