Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of August, 2026 : With the aim of encouraging young people to become more actively involved in sports, leadership and nation-building activities, the “MY Bharat Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect – Sports Edition” is scheduled to be held on August 27 at Dharmanagar Government College. The programme is being jointly organised by MY Bharat, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the NSS Unit of Dharmanagar Government College.
A press conference was held at the college on Tuesday regarding the programme. It was informed that National Sports Day is observed every year on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Ahead of the occasion, special programmes are being organised across the country on August 27 to engage young people in sports and broader nation-building activities. The programme is being conducted at two colleges in every district.

According to the organisers, one of the key objectives of the initiative is to provide young people with an opportunity to interact directly with sportspersons, MPs, MLAs, ministers and local leaders. It was stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address more than 8 lakh young participants at 1,600 locations across the country on August 27. Participants have been asked to reach the venue by 10 am.
Following the Prime Minister’s address, there will be a local youth interaction session, discussions with sportspersons and a nearly 15-minute “Yuva Samvad” session. In addition, young people aged between 15 and 29 will have the opportunity to participate in the online quiz of “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 3.0.” Winners will get an opportunity to attend the programme to be held in Delhi on January 12.
Those present at the press conference included Dharmanagar Government College Principal Dr Abhijit Sarkar, MY Bharat North Tripura Accounts Officer Ramendu Bhattacharya, NSS Programme Officer Arbindu Debnath, Office Assistant Rondip Rudra Pal, and Assistant Professors Ankan Sinha and Manik Bhattacharya, among others.
