Hyderabad, 21st of February, 2025 : Celebrating a decade of innovation, the 11th edition of eBAJA SAEINDIA has set a new benchmark with over 85 teams participating—the highest in the event’s history. A total of 77 teams arrived at B V Raju Institute of Technology, Narsapur near Hyderabad, marking the beginning of an exhilarating competition.

The inauguration event of eBAJA SAEINDIA was graced by industry leaders, Dr. Ravichandran Rajagopal, Vice Chairman of BVRIT and Office Bearers of BAJA SAEINDIA like Mr. Balraj Subramaniam, Chairman, Organizing Committee, Dr. K. C. Vora, Advisor and Mr. Pranav Khartekar, eBAJA Co- Convener. The chief guest, Ms. Simona Adelina Popovici, HR VP Asia Cluster, Renault Group, addressed the audience, highlighting the alignment between RNTBCI and BAJA SAEINDIA on the principles of diversity and inclusivity. She emphasized RNTBCI’s commitment to promoting diversity in BAJA SAEINDIA by supporting all-women teams, encouraging their passion for engineering and innovation. Additionally, she underscored RNTBCI’s support for electric vehicle technology, recognizing it as the future of mobility.
BPCL, a dedicated partner and sponsor since the inception of BAJA SAEINDIA, has consistently supported the event by providing high-quality fuel for the mBAJA competition and charging facilities for the eBAJA event. Now, BPCL has elevated its commitment by becoming the title sponsor of BAJA SAEINDIA. Mr. Shravan Kumar, Territory Manager, Nizamabad, shared his insights on this collaboration and said “BPCL has been supporting BAJA for 18 years with its new projects and events. I would like to congratulate BAJA team for supporting the new generation Electric Vehicles.” He congratulated all the participants for being at this platform and wished them all the best for the event.

Mr. Mayank Dhingra, an Assistant Editor at Autocar Professional, once a participant of BAJA SAEINDIA event in 2011, talking on returning to BAJA SAEINDIA said “BAJA SAEINDIA holds a special place in my heart as 11 years back, I was on the same ground working tirelessly to win something remarkable. BAJA has always been about pushing the limits of engineering, teamwork and endurance. As we stand on the cusp of the major transformation electrification, it reminds that automotive industry is evolving at pace faster than ever before. The shift from towards EV is more than just technological change, it’s a revolution that demands new ways of thinking, designing and problem- solving.”

On Day 2, teams lined up their vehicles for their first or second attempt at the Mechanical and Electrical Technical Inspection Bays. As they pushed their limits through a series of rigorous technical evaluations, 52 teams attempted the Technical Inspection, with 30 successfully clearing it. Additionally, around 25 teams successfully completed the brake test.
As the day progressed, design evaluations of the top 15 teams were conducted by a panel of 20 judges from the automotive industry. The Dronacharya Evaluation commenced with group discussions for faculty advisors, while dynamic events took center stage as teams geared up for various challenges.
Furthermore, the Rainstorm Test commenced, ensuring that the vehicles built by the teams is waterproof and the Low Voltage Leakage is minimum, without compromising electrical components or driver safety.

Day 3 is set to push teams and their vehicles to the limit with even tougher challenges, evaluating them on reliability, durability, and overall performance through dynamic evenjt & Sustainability finals.
The Faculty Development Program is an initiative designed for the faculty advisors of eBAJA SAEINDIA teams. As part of this program, participants had the opportunity to engage in an industrial visit to the following locations:

About BAJA SAEINDIA
BAJA SAEINDIA is an educational pursuit for engineering college students, an out-of-classroom-education system, where engineering students can participate as a team, giving them pragmatic exposure to real-world challenges as faced in the industry. Originally started in the USA by the SAE International as Mini BAJA SAE, today it is being organized in several countries. In India, it is being organized as BAJA SAEINDIA: A student-level competition in which teams from universities all over the country conceptualize, design, analyze, fabricate, validate and run an all-terrain vehicle. This is evaluated over a series of Static, Dynamic, and Endurance events. Over the years, BAJA SAEINDIA has grown in numbers and has become a bigger event nationally and over the past years, expatnded internationally as well. It serves as a platform for young engineering talent to showcase their skills and acquire real-life experience while overcoming obstacles and challenges: critical for their long-term success.
