Dharmanagar, Tripura, 7th of June 2026 : A major drug seizure along the India–Bangladesh border in North Tripura has once again sparked concern in the region. On Saturday morning, a joint operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and police near the Raghna Integrated Check Post under Dharmanagar Police Station led to the recovery of a large quantity of Yaba tablets.

According to sources, BSF personnel patrolling the border noticed several suspicious packets near the border fencing. After informing senior officials, a joint search operation was launched by the BSF and Dharmanagar Police. During the operation, a total of 9,427 Yaba tablets were recovered from 48 packets.Dharmanagar DSP Dhrubajyoti Sinha stated that the estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around ₹50 lakh (5 million rupees). The contraband has been seized and kept in police custody, and a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of law.
Although no arrests have been made so far, investigators suspect that the drugs had been stockpiled near the border for smuggling purposes. Authorities have launched an extensive investigation and search operation to identify and apprehend members of the trafficking network involved.
The repeated recovery of large quantities of narcotics in the border region has raised fresh concerns about the activities of international drug trafficking syndicates. However, both the police and the BSF have assured that surveillance along the border has been intensified and that anti-drug operations will continue with full force in the future.
