Dharmanagar, Tripura, 1st of March, 2026 : Like every year, members of the Sarbojanin Basanti Puja Committee of the Kameshwar area in Dharmanagar have once again devoted themselves to the worship of Goddess Basanti. On Sunday morning, the ceremonial Khuti Puja was performed with traditional rituals, marking the formal commencement of preparations for this year’s Basanti Puja.The Khuti Puja, organized by the committee, was attended by local dignitaries, officials, and members of the puja committee. Amid Vedic chants, the priest performed the sacred ritual of worshipping the ceremonial pillar.

The program concluded with the offering of puja materials and distribution of prasad in accordance with religious customs. From early morning, a steady gathering of devotees was witnessed in the Kameshwar area.The puja committee informed that, as in previous years, various religious and cultural programs will be organized during the festival. Work related to idol-making, pandal decoration, and illumination is set to begin shortly, the organizers said. Committee officials also called upon the local youth and women to actively participate in the preparations.
A senior member of the committee stated, “Basanti Puja is a traditional festival of this locality. With everyone’s cooperation, the puja has been successfully organized every year. This time too, we aim to conduct the festival in a peaceful and beautiful environment.”The upcoming festival has also generated enthusiasm among local traders. The organizers expressed hope that the influx of devotees and visitors during the puja days will add vibrancy and liveliness to the area.With the auspicious beginning of Goddess Basanti’s worship through the Khuti Puja, residents believe that the festive spirit in Dharmanagar will continue to grow stronger in the days ahead.
