Agartala, Tripura, 24th of March 2026 : Once again, youth has been detained by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala Railway Station, along with a pistol and two rounds of live ammunition on Tuesday (24th March, 2026).

According to reports, the GRP police at Agartala Railway Station were conducting a routine search on Tuesday morning, as on other days. During the operation, they searched a suspected youth and recovered a pistol, two magazines, and two rounds of live ammunition from his possession. He was immediately detained and taken to the GRP police station, where intensive interrogation was carried out. During questioning, he eventually revealed his identity as Subrata Datta, a resident of the Madhupur police station area.
It has been reported that the accused brought the pistol from Bihar to Agartala by train and was planning to take it to Madhupur for sale.

Later, Officer-in-Charge of Agartala GRP police station, Raju Bhowmik, informed the senior officials of the GRP about the matter. The forensic team was also alerted and rushed to the spot to begin investigation.
The OC of the GRP police station stated that the detained accused, Subrata Datta, will be produced before the court on Wednesday with a plea for police remand.
