Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of April, 2026 : Ahead of the upcoming Dharmanagar by-election, the police administration has stepped up efforts to maintain law and order and curb illegal activities. As part of this initiative, police from Dharmanagar Police Station conducted a surprise anti-liquor raid in the Purba Bazar area on Wednesday.According to police sources, a total of 125 bottles of foreign liquor of various brands were seized during the operation.

Cases have been registered against the individuals involved under Section 106 of the BNSS for illegal storage and sale.Police officials stated that strict surveillance is being maintained to ensure that the electoral environment is not disturbed by liquor distribution or any unlawful activities ahead of the by-election. Authorities also confirmed that such drives will continue in the coming days.Meanwhile, local residents have welcomed the initiative, saying that such actions will help maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the area before the election.Police further informed that efforts are underway to identify those involved in the incident, and stricter action will be taken if necessary.
