Dharmanagar, Tripura, 16th of April 2026 : The grand closing ceremony of the 7th state-level Biu Festival, organized by the Barua community, was successfully held in a festive atmosphere at Kanchanpur in North Tripura. The event was attended by the District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura, Chandni Chandran, along with other prominent administrative officials.

The event’s closing program showcased the rich Buddhist heritage of the Barua community through traditional cultural performances, religious rituals, and various social activities. The guests present highly appreciated the community’s efforts in preserving and promoting their unique cultural identity. In her address, the District Magistrate and Collector emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in safeguarding the distinct identity and Buddhist traditions of the Barua community. She also noted that festivals like Biu help inspire the younger generation to take greater interest in their cultural roots.Participants at the festival expressed that Biu Parab is not just a celebration, but a symbol of their culture, religious beliefs, and social unity.
