Dharmanagar, Tripura, 17th of April 2026 : A shocking incident of burglary in Ward No. 1 of Uttar Deochhara Gram Panchayat, under Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura district, has created widespread panic in the area. The theft took place at the residence of a local resident, Sapna Das.According to sources, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when all members of the family were away from home. Around 5:00 PM, Sapna Das and her family had gone to attend a nearby fair. Upon returning home at approximately 6:30 PM, they were stunned to find the back door of their house broken open.As they entered the house, they discovered that all belongings had been ransacked. Taking advantage of the family’s absence, miscreants allegedly broke into the house and carried out the theft. A search of the house later revealed that gold jewelry worth approximately ₹15–20 lakh had been stolen after breaking open the almirah.
The incident has left the family deeply traumatized and mentally distressed.As news of the theft spread rapidly, it triggered fear and concern among local residents. Many have raised questions about the lack of adequate security and have demanded increased police patrolling, especially during the night.Upon receiving information, the police promptly reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the theft was pre-planned and may involve multiple individuals. The police have assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen valuables.This incident has once again brought the issue of local security into focus, posing a significant challenge for the administration.
