Dharmanagar, Tripura, 11th of May 2026 : A music learning centre approved by Vidya Bharati Sangeet Kala Kendra and operated by “Sonic Music Academy” was formally inaugurated at Sakaibari in Dharmanagar under North Tripura district on Sunday (10th May, 2026). The new centre has been launched with the vision of developing Sakaibari village into a culturally enriched “Music Village.”The newly established music education centre officially began its journey through a special inaugural programme. During the event, detailed discussions were held on the promotion of music, dance, and cultural activities.
Academy officials also highlighted several future plans aimed at making the present and upcoming generation of students more skilled in cultural education and artistic practices.Among those present at the programme were Rabindra Debnath, Secretary and Principal of Sonic Music Academy; Arnab Debnath, Assistant Secretary and Vice Principal; academy teacher Shantanu Bhattacharjee; along with several distinguished personalities.The inaugural ceremony was formally conducted by newly elected Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty, who lit the ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the centre. Others present included Sakaibari Gram Panchayat Pradhan Alorani Nath and noted social worker Dipal Das, along with many other eminent personalities. Speakers at the programme emphasized that, in the present era, the development of music and dance education is extremely important to connect the younger generation more deeply with culture and creativity.
Officials of the academy stated that the centre aims to nurture students into skilled and culturally aware individuals through training in classical music, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, folk music, instruction in several nearly extinct traditional musical instruments, modern technological instruments, and various forms of dance.The inauguration programme generated tremendous enthusiasm among students and guardians of Sakaibari village. The spontaneous participation of culture-loving people from the area made the entire event lively and festive. The programme concluded with colourful cultural performances.
