North Tripura Hosts One-Day Farmers’ Workshop Under ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of June 2026 : With the objective of protecting farmers’ interests, safeguarding crops, and promoting modern agricultural technologies, a district-level one-day agricultural workshop was organized in North Tripura on Wednesday under the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” initiative.

The program was arranged by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare at the Community Hall of Ragna Higher Secondary School in Dharmanagar and was inaugurated by the State Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath.The program, which commenced at 1 PM, witnessed the participation of a large number of farmers, agricultural officers, and public representatives from different parts of the district. The primary aim of the workshop was to make farmers aware of modern agricultural practices, methods to protect crops from pests and diseases, ways to increase productivity, and information regarding various government schemes.

Among the distinguished guests present at the event were Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty, Bagbassa MLA Jadab Lal Debnath, Chairperson of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad Aparna Nath, the District Agriculture Officer of North Tripura, social worker Kajal Das, Chairperson of Kalacherra Panchayat Samiti Tinku Sharma, along with several officials from the Agriculture Department and other eminent personalities.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Jahar Chakraborty stated that the state government has been implementing several people-centric schemes aimed at enhancing farmers’ economic conditions and increasing agricultural production. He expressed hope that the workshop organized under the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” would further raise awareness among farmers regarding modern farming techniques, crop protection, and sustainable agricultural practices.

At the event, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath emphasized that the state government is working with the highest priority toward farmers’ welfare. He said that special emphasis is being placed on the use of modern technology, supply of quality seeds, expansion of irrigation facilities, and training programs to make agriculture a profitable profession. He further stated that the overall progress of the country is not possible without the comprehensive development of farmers. He urged farmers to take advantage of various government schemes to increase agricultural productivity.The workshop generated significant enthusiasm among the farming community. Farmers expressed satisfaction at having the opportunity to interact with agricultural experts and gain firsthand knowledge about modern agricultural technologies.

According to the administration, such initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills while bringing positive changes to the agricultural sector. The notable participation of farmers in this one-day workshop reflects both the importance and success of the program.
