Protest Rally In Dharmanagar Over 10-Point Charter Of Demands; Memorandum Submitted To SDM.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 27th of July 2026 : The Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee of the Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee organized a protest rally and mass deputation on Sunday, demanding the implementation of a 10-point charter addressing various social and economic issues.The rally began in front of the CPI(M) Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional office and marched through the town’s major roads before reaching the office of the Sub- Divisional Magistrate (SDM).

A delegation from the organization then submitted a memorandum outlining their demands.The memorandum called for a caste-based census, an increase in the number of Lok Sabha seats in Tripura, and the implementation of reservation for Scheduled Caste communities. It also demanded free government-funded education and healthcare, higher stipends for Scheduled Caste students, and the removal of the income ceiling for educational benefits.

Other key demands included the immediate filling of vacancies in government and semi- government departments, reservation in the private sector, 200 days of employment under the MGNREGA and TWEP schemes with a daily wage of ₹500, loan waivers for farmers, fishermen, and small traders, land and financial assistance for the landless to build permanent houses, an increase in social security pensions, free electricity and food grains, and effective measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities.

Among those present during the deputation were Ujjwala Das, Sitesh Ranjan Das, Niranjan Mallick, Ashok Das, Gouranga Das, and the Sub-Divisional Secretary of the organization, Tapas Sarkar.The organization warned that if the demands are not addressed promptly, it will launch a larger mass movement in the coming days.
