Dharmanagar, Tripura, 28th of July 2026 : The District Congress on Monday (27th July, 2026) organized a protest march in Dharmanagar demanding the immediate arrest of those accused of allegedly assaulting two Youth Congress workers. The party claimed that the attackers were supporters of the ruling party.

The protest was held after the administration allegedly failed to take any concrete action despite an earlier 24-hour deadline issued by the Congress. The rally passed through various parts of the town before culminating in a demonstration in front of Dharmanagar Police Station.Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders strongly criticized the police for what they described as inaction and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. They also issued a fresh 24-hour ultimatum to the administration, warning that if no action is taken within the new deadline, the party will launch a larger mass movement.

Among those present at the protest were Dharmanagar District Congress President Nirupam Dey, former District President Digbijay Chakraborty, Pradesh Congress leader Chayan Bhattacharya, Kebalkanti Nandi, and several other district leaders and party workers. The Congress leadership alleged that the administration has failed to maintain law and order and claimed that political influence is preventing action against the accused. The party reiterated its demand for a fair investigation and the prompt arrest of those responsible, warning that its agitation would intensify if justice is not delivered.
