Dharmanagar, Tripura, 24th of April 2026 : A series of serious allegations of irregularities and corruption have surfaced at Rowa Higher Secondary School under Panisagar subdivision in North Tripura district, creating widespread concern in the area. The accusations against Assistant Headmaster Dibabhushan Das have sparked significant controversy among locals.

According to local sources, since joining the school, he has allegedly been involved in various financial irregularities, fraud, and misuse of authority. The most serious allegation relates to the Mid-Day Meal scheme. In March 2026, the school reportedly remained closed for an extended period due to secondary and higher secondary examinations. As per rules, the Mid-Day Meal program should remain suspended during such closures. However, it is alleged that Dibabhushan Das still showed expenses under the scheme during that period and misappropriated government funds.
This has raised serious questions: how was food distribution recorded when the school was closed? Who else may be involved in preparing these false records? There are growing demands for a thorough investigation into the matter.Further explosive allegations have emerged regarding the collection of funds in the name of school development. It is reported that Dibabhushan Das, without any authorization from the Education Department, allegedly issued fake receipts and collected large sums of money from local businessmen and residents. There is no transparent account of where this money went or how it was used. Locals claim that people were pressured into paying, and the receipts provided were entirely fraudulent.
Many residents have termed such fund collection illegal and a clear act of deception. Despite these activities reportedly continuing for a long time, no visible action has been taken by the administration, leading to growing public resentment.
The situation worsened when journalists visited the school to gather information. Allegedly, the Assistant Headmaster misbehaved with them and issued direct threats, warning of legal action if any news regarding the issue was published. Such actions have been widely condemned as an attack on democratic values and an attempt to suppress press freedom.Amid ongoing claims of development under the current BJP-led state government, repeated allegations of corruption are raising questions about administrative accountability.Irregularities in a sensitive institution like a school not only result in financial loss but also erode public trust in the education system.
Parents and local residents have strongly demanded a full and impartial investigation, along with strict action against those found guilty. They warn that failure to act promptly may lead to even larger scandals in the future.
Serious concerns are also being raised about the role of the Education Department. Despite multiple allegations, no investigation has reportedly begun so far, increasing public frustration. Many believe that administrative silence is emboldening the accused. In this situation, immediate intervention by the Education Department is crucial. A transparent and unbiased inquiry is necessary to uncover the truth and ensure strict punishment for those responsible. Otherwise, this web of corruption surrounding an educational institution may have severe consequences for future generations, warn concerned citizens.
