Agartala, Tripura, 15th of June 2026 : Bajaj Life Insurance, one of India’s leading private life insurers, and ICICI Lombard, India’s leading private general insurer, reaffirmed their commitment to expanding insurance coverage across Tripura at the seventh State-Level Insurance Committee (SLIC) meeting. The meeting was held on 10th June 2026 under the chairmanship of Dr. Parshant Kumar Goyal, IAS, Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Tripura. Senior officials from the state government, representatives from the insurance industry, and other stakeholders participated in discussions focused on reviewing progress and strengthening insurance penetration across the state.
The lead life and non-life insurers for Tripura, Bajaj Life Insurance and ICICI Lombard presented updates on awareness initiatives undertaken during the previous quarter and discussed future priorities to support IRDAI’s vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’.
Since inception of the State Insurance Plan in 2023, a series of insurance awareness programmes and sessions have been conducted consistently across Tripura, aiming to foster stronger coordination and drive insurance penetration at the grassroots level. Lead insurers, in partnership with the Government of Tripura, district administrations, and Gram Panchayats, have undertaken a variety of marketing initiatives to reach people at large. These include targeted insurance awareness sessions in schools and colleges for students, and the observance of ‘Masik Bima Diwas’ on the 10th of every month, which has helped keep insurance conversations active in communities statewide.
In addition, awareness campaigns have been strategically amplified through innovative channels such as LED vans and prominent outdoor hoardings at key locations, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement among the public. These efforts have been particularly focused on extending insurance awareness and financial literacy initiatives to rural and underserved areas, in alignment with IRDAI’s vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’. These activities demonstrate a sustained commitment by lead insurers to inform and empower citizens on the importance of insurance.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Government of Tripura, representatives from the insurance industry and leadership teams from Bajaj Life Insurance and ICICI Lombard, including Mr. Shahnawaz Mashkoor and Mr. Adeeb Anwar amongst other senior officials.
