Agartala, 30th of December 2023 : The 42nd Agartala Book Fair-2024 will start from 21st February 2024 at the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala. The fair will continue till March 5, 2024. The meeting of the steering committee of 42nd Agartala Book Fair-2024 held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Saturday (30th December, 2023).
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presided over the preparatory meeting of the 42nd Agartala Book Fair 2024. The Chief Minister advised to look into the participation of more publishers and sellers from outside the State in this year’s book fair. In addition, the Chief Minister asked the local writers to pay attention to purchasing good quality books from the Government. The Chief Minister laid emphasis on noise pollution control, traffic management, uninterrupted power supply, seating arrangements for book fair visitors.
Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, said in the preparatory meeting that the number of buyers, sellers and readers is increasing day by day on the occasion of the book fair. So all concerned should be more careful in providing all kinds of services considering the benefit of all.
Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, Secretary Information & Cultural Affairs Department delivered the welcome speech at the preparatory meeting. Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, presented detailed information about the book fair. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Ganga Prasad Prasain, Vice-Chancellor of MBB University Dr. Satyadeo Poddar, Bangladesh High Commission, Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad, Chief Editor of Syandan Patrika and Syandan TV Subal Kumar Dey, President of Tripura Publishers Guild Manas Paul, Vice Chairman of State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty, Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Journalist Dibakar Debnath, Journalist Bishvendu Bhattacharjee, officials of various departments, Journalists, publishers and many other dignitaries were present in the meeting.
