Khowai, Tripura, 4th of September, 2026 : A daring theft at a wholesale grocery store in the Paharmura Baidyanath Chowmuhani area of Khowai has caused tension among locals. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday (3rd September, 2026) night, with the thieves allegedly disconnecting the shop’s CCTV cables and power supply before carrying out the theft.
According to reports, Sagar Paul, a wholesale grocery trader at Paharmura Baidyanath Chowmuhani, closed his shop at the usual time yesterday and returned home. It is alleged that sometime during the night, a group of thieves cut through the tin fencing of the shop and entered the premises.

It is learnt that the thieves first disconnected the CCTV cables and power supply of the shop. They then fled with around ₹10,000 in cash from the shop’s cash box, along with various valuable items.
This morning, shop owner Sagar Pal was shocked to discover the theft when he arrived to open the shop. He subsequently informed the Khowai police administration about the incident.
Police have reportedly launched an investigation after receiving information about the incident. Investigators are looking into how the thieves entered the shop and identifying those involved in the theft.
The incident has created tension among local residents, particularly as the theft occurred in a populated area. Police are now working to trace the suspects and take appropriate legal action against those involved.
