Agartala, Tripura, 27th of May 2026 : With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam at Nazrul Kalakshetra on Tuesday (26th May, 2026).

Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura organized “Pravati Kabi Pranam Anusthan” at Nazrul Kalakshetra, Agartala at 7 AM. At the beginning of the program, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman along with other dignitaries paid Floral homage their respects to Kazi Nazrul Islam the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth anniversary at the Nazrul Kalakshetra.

Addressing at the celebration ceremony of Birth Anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman said that Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is regarded as one of the brightest stars in the sky of Indian literature and culture. He was not only a poet, but also a musician, philosopher, short story writer, and novelist. However, he was most revered as the poet of equality and humanity.

“Kazi Nazrul Islam was not known only as a poet; he was a symbol of consciousness, awakening, and revolution. Just as his thunderous voice rose against injustice, he also expressed the ideals of love, humanity, and harmony. His call against oppression, superstition, and discrimination remains equally relevant even today.” Higher Education Minister added.

Highlighting the occasion, Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman remarked that Kazi Nazrul Islam was a true patriot. The spirit of patriotism was vividly reflected in his writings. Despite facing extreme poverty, he remained steadfast and continued to sing the songs of humanity. The various songs composed by him still bring peace and comfort to our minds.

With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura cultural event also organized at Muktadhara Auditorium Hall, Agartala at evening.

On this auspicious occasion artists performed their traditional cultural programs likes dance, song etc. to beautify the ceremony.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, Former Tripura University Vice-Chancellor Padmashri Arunoday Saha, students and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
