Dharmanagar, Tripura, 27th of May 2026 : Most of the roads in Dharmanagar town of North Tripura district have now turned into a miserable condition, causing immense hardship to the residents. Broken roads, huge potholes, and waterlogging after rainfall have made daily commuting a nightmare for the people. From e-rickshaw drivers to drivers of small and heavy vehicles, as well as ordinary pedestrians, everyone is being forced to travel while risking accidents every day.

Particularly, the road stretching from Rajbari V-Mart Shopping Mall to the railway crossing has become so dangerous that locals describe it as a “death trap.” Due to rainwater filling the potholes, it becomes impossible to understand the depth or size of the craters on the road. As a result, incidents such as e-rickshaws overturning, bikes skidding, and minor accidents are occurring almost every day.Residents allege that despite the problem persisting for a long time, no effective initiative has been taken by the administration. While the government continues to boast about development, the people of Dharmanagar are suffering from the agony of damaged roads.
The pathetic condition of roads across different parts of the town has pushed public inconvenience to an extreme level.According to pedestrians, if commuting is difficult during the daytime, the situation becomes even more terrifying at night. A slight moment of carelessness could lead to a major accident. The poor condition of roads is also affecting local businesses, as many customers are reluctant to visit the town due to the inconvenience.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised about the silence of the administration. Why is road repair work not being started immediately? Public anger is also growing against the role of the local MLA and the concerned departments. Despite promises of development funded by taxpayers’ money, the poor state of civic infrastructure has created deep dissatisfaction among the residents. The people of Dharmanagar are now demanding that the repair and renovation of the damaged roads be undertaken immediately on a war footing. Otherwise, the administration will not be able to escape responsibility in the event of any major accident or loss of life.
