Sabroom, Tripura, 13th of March 2025 : With the initiative of Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Temple committee five-day long traditional 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025 has been organized at the Bankul Mahamuni temple in Rupaichari block of Sabroom, South Tripura District. The 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025 will continue till March 17, 2025.
In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the five-day long traditional 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025. On the occasion of 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-202 Chief Minister unveiled 28 Buddha statues at the Bankul Mahamuni Buddha temple premises today (13th March, 2025).
Addressing the Unveiling ceremony of 28 Buddha statues and inauguration of the 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, “Initiatives will be taken to develop Bankul as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the state. The teachings and teachings of Lord Buddha guide people to walk on the righteous path by establishing peace and harmony. The teachings of Lord Buddha are still relevant today. The State Government will provide all kinds of assistance to quickly complete the work of the International Buddhist University in Sabroom”.
The Chief Minister also added that in addition to religious education, this university will develop cultural practices, chanting, meditation, and sports. It will be an international standard educational center. Efforts will be made to make the Bankul Mahamuni Buddha premises attractive to tourists from home and abroad. The Chief Minister urged the public to enjoy the fair while maintaining peace and harmony for 5 days.
On this auspicious occasion of 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025 Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sabroom Shibajyoti Dutta delivered the welcome speech. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were MLA Mailafru Mog, MDC Kangjaong Mog, Dipak Dutta Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad, Rupaichari BAC Chairman Rakhi Tripura, Buddhist Waimita Mahathero, District Magistrate and Collector South Tripura District Smitha Mol , social activist Dipayan Chowdhury, and may other dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.
