Bangalore, Karnataka, 13th of March 2025 : All of you must be well aware that the festival of Holi is a festival of colours and enthusiasm as well as delicious dishes. On the occasion of Holi, while on one hand there is a tradition of applying colours, on the other hand there is also a tradition of eating delicious dishes like Gujiya, Malpua, Dahi Bade, Lassi. As delicious as these dishes are, they can be equally bad for your health. In Ayurveda, it is believed that the sign of a person being healthy is that there will be a balance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas in his body. But eating such dishes disturbs this balance.

Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Director and Gynecologist of Asha Ayurveda, told what are the ways by adopting which you can take care of your health without reducing the enthusiasm of Holi:
What is meant by the imbalance of Vata Pitta?
Dr. Chanchal Sharma tells that as the color of Holi starts fading, the negative effect of these dishes starts showing. On the occasion of Holi, people eat thandai, lassi, dry fruits etc., which can increase the level of Vata dosha in your body. Eating Malpua, Gujiya, spicy dishes, etc. increases the level of Pitta dosha in the body. Whenever the balance of these two doshas in a person’s body gets disturbed, then problems like lethargy, constipation, acidity, stomach ache persist in the body.
How to avoid the wrath of doshas after Holi?
The more spicy and fried food you eat, the more the level of Vata dosha will increase in your body. Similar dishes are made in everyone’s house during Holi, at such a time you should consume it in a certain quantity only. If you consume it keeping in mind your health and not according to your hunger, then you can protect yourself from stomach problems.
Whenever you eat something fried, it affects your digestion as well as your skin negatively. So eat such foods as little as possible and drink water after eating, this keeps the Kapha dosha under control.
Along with these food items, you can consume curd, lassi, herbal drinks etc. as light food because it can prove to be helpful in keeping the doshas balanced.
By taking care of these small things, you can save the color of your Holi from getting spoiled.
