
Agartala, Tripura, 10th of October, 2026 : The land worship (bhumi pujan) and foundation stone laying ceremony of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) will be held on October 15 at 10 am at Khowai Chowmuhani in Mohanpur subdivision, West Tripura district. To ensure the event goes smoothly, a preparatory meeting was held on Thursday (8th October, 2026) at the conference hall of Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti.
Hon’ble Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath chaired the meeting. Those present included Mohanpur Municipal Council Chairperson Anita Debnath, Vice Chairperson Shankar Deb, Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shantanu Bikash Das, Additional SDM Dhritishekhar Roy and Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashis Dasgupta. Mohanpur Block BDO Gopal Krishna Dutta attended, along with officials from the PWD, electricity, agriculture, health, information and culture, drinking water and sanitation, rural development and fire service departments, and local public representatives. Representatives of NHIDCL, Mohanpur Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, the IIIT authorities and the construction agency also took part.
The meeting discussed administrative and infrastructure arrangements for the October 15 event in detail. Minister Nath directed all departments to carry out their duties properly and coordinate with one another so the event is held smoothly. Those expected at the ceremony are Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brishketu Debbarma, the IIIT Chairman and Director, and other guests.
