Agartala, Tripura, 10th of October, 2026 : At a meeting today in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) conference hall, preparations for the “Maayer Gaman” programme were reviewed. The meeting was chaired by AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder. The event is jointly organised by the AMC and the Information and Culture Department, and preparations are now in the final stage.
Mayor Majumder said all arrangements are being made so that the programme is held peacefully, as in previous years. He said there will be adequate police arrangements, including barricades in front of City Centre and additional security measures. The Superintendent of Police (Traffic) said attention will be paid to preventing disorder during the programme, and steps will be taken so that vehicles on emergency services can move. The Mayor appealed to all participating clubs and officials of the departments concerned to cooperate in holding the event smoothly.
Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, explained the procession route in detail. Also present were AMC Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, AMC Commissioner Saju Vaheed A, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Smart City CEO G Sharath Naik, West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Traffic SP Kanta Jangir and senior officials of various departments.
