Friendly Women’s Football Tournament Marks International Women’s Day.

Teliamura, 8th of March 2024 : With the initiative of ‘Chesta‘ project a friendly women’s football tournament organized to promote this project and mark International Women’s Day at Bhagat Singh Mini Stadium, Teliamura on Friday (8th March, 2024). Chesta is a project or mission to prevent child marriage awareness programmes/campaigns on the demerits of child marriages at the village/ district/block level.

On this day, this football match was played between the women’s teams of Khowai Sub-division and Teliamura Sub-division. Bipasha Hrangkhawal, India’s first woman air controller and the brand ambassador of the project, was felicitated at the start of the tournament. In this tournament of the day, Teliamura Sub-division women’s team won by defeating Khowai Sub-division women’s team by 2/1 goals. The present guest distributed the prizes them.

Khowai District Magistrate & Collector Chandni Chandran said that the effort is a mission or project formed against child marriage. Marrying girls at a young age destroys their future as well as their talents are claimed. People should be made aware by speaking out against it. And girls’ rights must be guaranteed. An attempt to promote this through this game on International Women’s Day. She urged people from all sections of the society to come forward and cooperate. Teliamura Municipal Chairman Rupak Sarkar delivered an important speech in this event.

Khowai District Magistrate & Collector Chandni Chandran, Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shirshendu Debbarma,  Teliamura Municipal Chairman Rupak Sarkar, Madhusudan Roy  Vice Chairman of Teliamura Municipal Council, State Brand Ambassador of Chesta Project Bipasha Hrangkhawal, officials and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
