Government Is Committed To The Welfare And Development Of Tribal People By Building A Bridge Between Heritage And Modernity : Governor Of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu.

Agartala, Tripura, 11th of September, 2026 : The silver jubilee of Songrongma Puja signifies the age-old belief, identity and rich cultural heritage of Bru Reang community. This Puja, apart from featuring religious rituals and customs, plays an important role to carry forward the values, folk belief and ancient culture of their ancestors. Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu  made these remarks today after inaugurating the 25th state-level Songrongma Puja and Festival at the Songrongma Temple premises in Manubazar Dakhalsing Reang Para under Santirbazar subdivision. This two-day puja and festival was organized jointly by the information and cultural affairs department, Santirbazar subdivisional administration and Bru (Reang) Songrongma Mthoh.

Addressing the gathering Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said, this kind of religious and cultural festival carries forward the cultural tradition of India. Stressing on digital preservation of the folk tales, folk songs, folk dance, rituals and customs as well as traditional knowledge of the Bru people the Governor said, as part of the tribal population of Tripura, Bru culture becomes an integral part of the state’s cultural identity. He said, the government is committed to the welfare and development of tribal people by building a bridge between heritage and modernity. Apart from emphasizing educating tribal children in educational institutions like Navoday, Eklavya, he called upon them to stay away from drugs. At the same time he urged all to have a healthy life style and take active part in the process of building TB-free india.

Among other dignitaries were present Kaskau Khaba Reang, Rai Aminjoy Reang of Bru community, Bru Songrongma Mthoh’s president Birendra Reang, BSM president Gabriel Reang, social worker Harendra Reang. Welcome address was delivered by the general secretary of Bru Songrongma Mthoh Khanaram Reang. President of the Puja and Festival Committee Panendra Reang presided over the programme. In the beginning of the programme guests present inaugurated the exhibition stall by cutting a ribbon and took part in the worship. During the two days of the festival, artistes of different communities including Reang, will give cultural performances.
