Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates Media Workshop Cum Orientation Programme.

With the initiative of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura organized 4-day (26th-29th July, 2023) Media Workshop Cum Orientation Programme in association with Agartala Press Club at Press Club, Agartala on Wednesday (26th July, 2023).

In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the Media Workshop Cum Orientation Programme by lighting the lamp. “Media is the mirror of society. Newspapers play an important role in social change. The fourth pillar of democracy is the media. Freedom of the press is necessary to strengthen the democratic system. Otherwise, the correct information will not reach the people. The State Government also believes in the freedom of journalists and media”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inauguration ceremony of the Media Workshop Cum Orientation Programme.

In the inaugural ceremony of the workshop, the Chief Minister also added that the present State Government has been newspaper friendly since the beginning. And it has been reflected through actions and not words. The State Government has already taken many steps for the welfare of media and journalists. This effort will continue in the coming days. Highlighting the mistakes of the Government in the media also helps the Government in running the administration. In this case, the State Government wants to provide constructive news. The Chief Minister said that training is very important in any job. It increases work excellence. The Chief Minister expressed hope that such workshops would increase the excellence of journalists in reporting news.

Secretary of ICA Department Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said that such workshops are very necessary in the era of technological advancement. It can also be useful in creating different types of news, features. The media also plays an important role in reaching the various policies and guidelines of the State Government to the people. Secretary of Agartala Press Club Ramakanta Dey said that the present State Government has taken many steps for the welfare of journalists. One of the notable ones is the initiative to introduce health insurance for journalists.

Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. The Director said that more than 300 journalists from Print, Electronic and Web media will participate in this 4-day workshop. 8 resource persons associated with various fields of news will conduct the training in the workshop. This workshop will be useful in taking journalists forward in the age of advanced technology. Editor, PTI (Eastern Region) Jayanta Roy Choudhury and Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharya also spoke on the occasion. Print, Electronic and Web media journalists and many other dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony of the Media Workshop Cum Orientation Programme.
