Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated Satellite Opioid Substitution Therapy (S-OST) Centre and expansion of Art Plus Centre at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (GBP), Agartala on Wednesday (4th October, 2023). The Chief Minister also inaugurated the FI-CTC Centre at Modern Psychiatric Hospital today.
“Government has taken efforts to make Tripura drug free. Those involved in the drug trade will also be severely punished. The Government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug addiction.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inauguration ceremony of Satellite Opioid substitution therapy (S-OST) Centre and expansion of Art Plus Centre today. The Chief Minister said that human life is priceless. But many die prematurely due to disorderly and unhealthy lifestyle. In addition, many are victims of deadly diseases. Youth society is affected by deadly diseases like HIV due to ill effects of drugs. A healthy and disciplined life is the only way to stay away from this addiction.
Addressing at the Inauguration Ceremony the Chief Minister also added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also leading the country with the goal of creating a drug-free life and a drug-free India. The State Government has also taken various programs to make Tripura drug free. The Chief Minister said that it is not possible to make the state drug free only by the efforts of the Government alone. This requires awareness of the citizens. Everyone should come forward to build resistance against drugs and drug dealers. Only then it is possible to build drug free Tripura.
Project Director of Tripura State AIDS Control Society Dr. Shankar Das delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, Secretary of the Health Department Dr. Debasis Basu, National Health Mission Director Dr. D. K. Chakma, Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicine Department, Anjan Das and many other dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony. The HOD of Medicine Department of GBP Hospital Arunabha Dasgupta has concluded the ceremony with vote of thanks.
