“Jalaj Samman & Literary Festival 2026” Held In Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 27th of April 2026 : Dharmanagar came alive with a vibrant blend of literature and culture as the town hosted the “Jalaj Samman & Literary Festival 2026” on Sunday. The event created a unique cultural atmosphere, drawing literature enthusiasts from various regions.The formally began around 12 noon with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp in the presence of distinguished guests. In the inaugural segment, the organizing committee stated that the primary objective of the festival is to enrich Bengali literature and build a bridge between emerging and established poets and writers.

The festival was inaugurated by retired judge and noted literature enthusiast Subhashis Talapatra. In his speech, he elaborated on the heritage of Bengali literature, its current context, and the role of the younger generation. He remarked, “Literature is not just creation; it is a reflection of society—such initiatives make that reflection even more vivid.”One of the major highlights of the was the presentation of the “Jalaj Samman.” This year, the prestigious honor was conferred upon renowned poet Nakul Ray, in recognition of his long-standing contribution to literature, his distinctive poetic style, and socially conscious themes.

Expressing his gratitude, Ray said, “This honor increases my responsibility towards writing. I will continue striving to offer something new to my readers in the days to come.”The festival also witnessed the participation of around 80 poets and literary figures from within the state and beyond. Notable among them were Rameshwar Bhattacharya, Nandakumar Debbarma, Pratyush Deb, Bimlendu Chakraborty, Ashok Deb, and Milankanti Dutta. Their presence made the literary discussions and poetry recitation sessions lively and engaging.

A series of recitations, intellectual exchanges, and open discussions deeply resonated with the audience.The day-long program featured multiple segments, including poetry readings, literary discussions, musical performances, and the screening of a documentary themed on “Jalaj.” As the day progressed into the evening, the atmosphere grew even more captivating with musical performances by local artists, leaving the audience enthralled. The participation of young poets and literature enthusiasts also highlighted the creative potential of the new generation.According to the organizers, this festival is not just an event but part of a broader cultural movement. Plans are underway to expand its scale in the future.
