Observance Of World Cancer Day In Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital.

Agartala, 4th of February, 2024 : With the initiative of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre is observed World Cancer Day at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital premises, Agartala on Sunday (4th February, 2024). The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries.

“Awareness is the key to cancer prevention. This disease is invited by our capriciousness and ignorance. it is now possible to fight against cancer with modern treatment. But everyone needs to be aware of the causes to avoid this disease. If the disease is detected at the right time, it is possible to fight the disease and live for a long time. The number of mouth cancer patients is high in all the 8 states of North Eastern region.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the observance of World Cancer Day.

The Chief Minister also added that the main reason for the increase in the number of mouth cancer patients in this region is mainly due to the bad habits of betel nuts, tobacco, cigarettes and other intoxicants. Also, most of the cases are seen in mouth, breast, bone, lung and uterus cancer patients. The Chief Minister said that if there is a wound or swelling in any part of the body, it is necessary to consult a doctor without neglecting it. The Chief Minister said the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre has been recognized as the best hospital in the North Eastern region. The Chief Minister also felicitated three voluntary organizations to help provide cancer services.

Dr. Shiromani Debbarma Medical Superintendent, ABV Regional Cancer Centre delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Kiran Gitte, Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, Tripura, D.K Chakma, Director of Health Mission also spoke on the occasion. At the event, cancer fighter Debasisu Das spoke about his experience in fighting the disease. Doctors, officials of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
