Dharmanagar, Tripura, 23rd of April 2026 : On the eve of the birth anniversary of Sant Surdas, the Dharmanagar North Unit of Saksham stepped forward with a compassionate initiative. To mark the occasion, they organized an interaction and discussion session with visually impaired and low-vision singers of Dharmanagar, creating an inspiring and heartfelt atmosphere.What stands out is that these artists sustain themselves not through begging or dependency, but by using their musical talent and instruments as their livelihood. For many years, they have been supporting their families with dignity and self-reliance—setting a shining example for society.

The significance of the day deepened further in light of Sant Surdas’s philosophy. Despite being completely blind, he established himself as a remarkable saint and musician during the Bhakti movement. His self-reliance, sense of social responsibility, and unwavering dedication continue to reflect in the lives of these artists, inspiring everyone present at the event.
