Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of July 2026 : Patients at the Dialysis Centre of Dharmanagar District Hospital in North Tripura have alleged severe hardship due to frequent power outages.

According to patients and their families, dialysis treatment comes to a halt whenever there is load shedding, forcing them to wait for long periods in the middle of a life-saving procedure. They say this not only increases health risks but also causes significant mental stress. The affected families have further alleged that the private agency responsible for operating the government-funded dialysis centre has yet to ensure an effective alternative power supply or generator backup.

They questioned why, despite receiving government funding over the years, the necessary infrastructure has not been developed and why such a critical healthcare service remains so vulnerable to electricity disruptions.Local residents and members of civil society have also expressed concern, stating that essential medical services like dialysis should never be interrupted due to power failures. They stressed the need for uninterrupted electricity supply and the installation of a high-capacity generator or other reliable backup power systems to keep the dialysis unit operational at all times.

Patients, their families, and local residents have collectively demanded that the authorities immediately put in place an effective backup power system to ensure uninterrupted dialysis services.
