Khowai, 1st of December 2023 : With the initiative TIPRA Motha organization a protest rally has been conducted here at Baijalbari, Khowai on Friday (1st December, 2023).
As per the report, angered by the Block Development Officer, the road was blocked at Baijalbari, Khowai-Agartala road, led by TIPRA Motha MLA of Ramchandraghat constituency Ranjit Debbarma from 8:00 am today. After the long time blocked the road causing traffic to fall, and commuters from ordinary vehicles were in great disturbance. All passenger buses of Kamalpur, Ambassa, Kailashahar and Khowai were stuck due to road closure since 8:00 am on Friday. On the other hand, passenger vehicles coming from Agartala were also stuck due to this road blocked. Due to the road block for a long time, the passengers started suffering a lot.
Regarding the road blockade, TIPRA Motha MLA of Ramchandraghat constituency Ranjit Debbarma, said to the media that local MLAs and MDCs are not being invited to various Government event in Padmabil block. The block office has been turned into a kind of party office of the ruling party. Not dethroning an opposition MLA at a Government event is tantamount to insult. And he talked to Maharaja about this matter. Afterwards the Khowai District Magistrate & Collector Chandni Chandran, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Khowai Sub-Division Bijay Sinha, come to the spot after receiving information about the road blockade, interacted with the excited blockers and meeting with MLA Ranjit Debbarma.
Later on a amidst the DM & Collector of Khowai District Chandni Chandran, SDM of Khowai Sub-Division Bijay Sinha, MLA Ranjit Debbarma and other leaders of TIPRA Motha including BDO held a meeting. In the meeting, MLA Ranjit Debbarma demanded to transfer the BDO of Padmabil block. After the meeting, the District Magistrate said that the MLA will be informed about various Government events in the coming days and the BDO of Padmabil block will inform the MLA about various activities and various Government events. At around 2:00 pm, the road blockade was finally withdrawn.
