Agartala, 2nd of February, 2024 : Today is February 02, 2024, World Wetlands Day. On this occasion Tripura E.I.A.C.P. Hub organized a Seminar under the supervision of Tripura State Pollution Control Board. The theme of the discussion was “Wetlands & Human Wellbeing” i.e. the role of wetlands in human well-being which is also the theme of this year’s World Wetlands Day.
The programme was graced by the presence of The Hon’ble Secretary of Department of Science, Technology and Environment and Chairman of Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Dr. K Sasikumar, I.F.S. Other dignitaries present in the programme were Sri Mahender Singh, Director of Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Tripura, Member Secretary of Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Dr. Bishu Karmakar and Tripura E.I.A.C.P. Hub Coordinator, Smt Aprajita Das. Prof. Sabyasachi Dasgupta, Professor, Department of Forest and Biodiversity, Tripura University, was present as the keynote speaker on the occasion.
Students and teachers from different schools of the city participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion the officials said that the well-being of mankind and the environment depends on wetlands. Clean and pollution-free wetlands indicate pollution-free environment and healthy human society. Finally, students were requested to play their part in keeping wetlands free from pollution.
