Kolkata, West Bengal / Agartala, Tripura, 29th of June 2026 : Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers has instituted ‘Banglar Sona’ – a special honour for all that is gold in Bengal.
And the first ‘Banglar Sona‘ honour was presented to Debojyoti Mishra – musician par excellence – at a special event that was held at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata, on Sunday, 28th June to mark thirty years of Debojyoti Mishra’s journey in the world of music.
The event, ‘Robi’r Aloye Satyajit’ – a Debojyoti Mishra production, presented by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers – was about the light of Rabindranath Tagore in the cinema of Satyajit Ray.
And the exclusive happening featured much celebrated singers – Srikanta Acharya, Jayati Chakraborty, Upal Sengupta, Saheb Chatterjee and Anwesha Datta Gupta – and Srinanda Shankar.
The Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers’ ‘Banglar Sona’ honour was presented to Debojyoti Mishra at the beginning of the programme for the day.
Arpita Saha – Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers – Srikanto Acharya and Jayati Chakraborty did the honours.
Debojyoti Mishra, we all know, is a violin virtuoso who also has a way with other musical instruments and is universally acknowledged for his signature style.
And he is popularly known as a composer of landmark Bengali and Hindi film score and world music.
“I feel really gratified with the ‘Banglar Sona’ honour and I thank Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers for this very thoughtful gesture”, said Debojyoti Mishra, adding,”And I see it as a symbolic reflection of popular appreciation.”
