Agartala, Tripura, 29th of June 2026 : A review meeting of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education was held on Monday (29th June, 2026) at the auditorium of the State Guest House, focusing on child welfare, nutrition, women empowerment and various government initiatives aimed at social development.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi, Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy, Chairman of the Child Rights Commission Jayanti Debbarma, Vice Chairperson of the State Commission for Commission Madhumita Chakraborty, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development Ajit Kumar, Special Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education Tapan Kumar Das, along with District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates from different districts and representatives of the department. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on several important schemes and initiatives, including Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, PM JANMAN, Mukhyamantri Pushti Upahar, Mukhyanmantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti Scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Child Marriage, Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibah Yojana and Vatsalya Mission Progress of various ongoing projects was also reviewed.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Annpurna Devi stated that the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 would be achieved through collective efforts and commitment. She said that the foundation of a developed nation begins at Anganwadi centres, emphasizing that proper care and development of children are essential for building a stronger and better India. The Minister described child marriage and drug abuse as serious social evils that hinder national progress. She stressed the need for extensive awareness campaigns to prevent child marriage and addiction and informed that the government has initiated efforts to create child marriage-free villages across the country.

Annpurna Devi further said that government schemes and opportunities must reach the intended beneficiaries to ensure overall social and national progress. She added that only through effective implementation of welfare measures can the dream of a developed and prosperous India be realized.
Speaking at the meeting, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister of the state Tinku Roy said that the state government is implementing programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the central government. He noted that awareness campaigns on blood donation, child marriage and drug trafficking are being carried out and emphasized that the government and the department are jointly working to address various social issues.
