Agartala, Tripura, 23rd of November 2025 : Secretary, Tribal Welfare’s Extensive Field Visit Highlights High Productivity, Strong Field Staff Delivery & Excellent Performance of BPMUs and DPMU.Dr. K. Sasi Kumar, IFS, Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department, undertook an extensive field visit on 22nd November 2025 to the Farmers Field School of the Unnayan Producer Group (PG) at Gainama VC under Manu Block, Dhalai District. The visit highlighted how TRESP interventions are driving remarkable gains in agriculture, technology adoption, and rural livelihoods.

Progressive farmer Smt. Manika Sarkar showcased Bottle Gourd cultivation undertaken during the Rabi 2025–26 season as part of the TRESP initiative. The same PG had earlier harvested a successful Brinjal crop during Kharif 2025, generating impressive profits.

At the PG office, the Secretary held meaningful discussions with PG members on group operations, seasonal planning, income generation, market linkages, and the overall livelihood impact of TRESP. He appreciated the confidence and clarity shown by the farmers.

The team later visited the Bottle Gourd field to assess crop progress, production practices, marketing strategies, and future potential. Observing excellent crop health and effective technology transfer, the Secretary expressed satisfaction with the implementation quality at the grassroots.

A standout moment of the visit came from the testimony of women farmers of Unnayan PG: they had taken a loan of ₹1.46 lakhs during Kharif 2025 for Brinjal cultivation and earned more than ₹10 lakhs—successfully repaying ₹1.03 lakhs including interest. The Secretary lauded this remarkable achievement and commended the persistent efforts of field staff, including Krishi Sakhi Smt. Bulti Baishya.

The Secretary also appreciated the exceedingly good performance of the Block Project Management Units (BPMUs) and the District Project Management Unit (DPMU) for their effective monitoring, coordination, and on-ground support, which have significantly strengthened TRESP’s impact in the district. Dr. Sasi Kumar expressed confidence that TRESP’s Farmers Field School model will continue to be a vital platform for technology dissemination, capable of being replicated widely across farmers’ fields for enhanced productivity and sustainable rural prosperity.
