TSECL Successfully Hosts 55th Commercial Sub-Committee Meeting Of NERPC In Agartala, Tripura Reinforces Its Leadership In Regional Power Sector Cooperation.

Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of May 2025 : The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) successfully hosted the 55th Commercial Sub-Committee Meeting (CCM) of the North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) at the prestigious Sonar Tori State Guest House in Agartala. The event brought together top-level officials and stakeholders from across the northeastern region, reaffirming the importance of regional collaboration in the power sector.

The meeting was held under the aegis of TSECL and presided over by Shri K.B. Jagtap, IES, Member Secretary, NERPC. Joining him on the dais were Shri D.K. Bauri, IES, Director, NERPC; Shri Biswajit Basu, Managing Director, TSECL; and Shri Sarvjit Singh Dogra, Director (Finance), TSECL, along with key dignitaries and representatives from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), central and state power utilities, and all northeastern states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland.

The session commenced with the ceremonial watering of plants, a symbolic gesture promoting growth and sustainability, followed by a welcome address by Shri Biswajit Basu, MD of TSECL. In his speech, Shri Basu emphasized TSECL’s commitment to driving regional cooperation, operational transparency, and technological advancement in the power sector. His leadership and vision were lauded by participants and dignitaries alike, as he highlighted Tripura’s proactive role in energy sector transformation across the Northeast.

Shri Sarvjit Singh Dogra, Director (Finance), TSECL, also played a prominent role in the deliberations. With his deep financial acumen, Mr. Dogra provided critical insights into the commercial structuring of transmission-related transactions, outstanding dues, fund contributions, and the importance of financial discipline in infrastructure development. His contributions underscored TSECL’s strategic focus on fiscal responsibility and capital optimization in the transmission sector.

The agenda of the meeting featured detailed discussions on several key issues including: Settlement of transmission charges and resolution of drawal discrepancies between states, Cybersecurity protocols and system upgrades at substations, Reconciliation of outstanding dues and commercial accounts, Status of contributions to board and establishment funds, Monetization of transmission assets, with an in-depth presentation by the Director, CEA, on future capital recycling models and investment strategies. Participants actively shared their perspectives on the evolving commercial landscape of the power sector, covering generation, transmission, distribution, and recent regulatory developments and reforms.
In her closing remarks, Smt. Sujata Sarkar, DGM (Commercial & Tariff), TSECL, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all delegates for their active participation and reaffirmed TSECL’s enduring commitment to operational excellence and regional unity in power development.

The 55th Commercial Sub-Committee Meeting highlighted the vital importance of coordinated planning, shared learning, and transparency in enhancing the resilience and efficiency of the North Eastern power grid.
