Water Level In Howrah River Flowing Lower Than Its Danger Level.

Agartala, Tripura, 30th of May, 2025 : With the initiative of Revenue Department Government of Tripura held press conference on Friday (30th May, 2025) evening. In the Press conference the Revenue Secretary said that one person was reported to have drowned in Jirania in West district due to the rains in the last two days. 106 houses have been damaged. Out of these, 33 houses have been completely damaged and 73 houses have been partially damaged. 4 relief camps have been opened in West Tripura and Khowai districts. Out of these, 3 are in West district and one in Khowai district. 207 people from 57 families have taken shelter in these camps. He said that due to uprooted trees and fallen electric poles on the roads, traffic movement and power supply were disrupted in various areas of Panisagar, Longtharai Valley, Jampuijala , Jirania, Mohanpur, Sadar, Karbuk and Sabroom subdivisions.

TSR, Forest Department and State Disaster Relief Force and volunteers, traffic movement on the roads and power supply are being restored quickly. A detailed survey of the rain-affected areas is being done. The Revenue Secretary said that the water level of the Howrah river in the Jahar Bridge, Battala. of ​​Agartala is currently low. The water level of other rivers in the State is also below the danger level. The State Emergency Operation Centre is coordinating with the Meteorological Department, Central Water Commission and Works (Water Resources).

The water level of the rivers is being monitored continuously in coordination with the department. As per the forecast of the Meteorological Department, a red alert has been issued in North district and Unakoti district and a yellow alert in other districts for tomorrow, i.e. 31 May 2025. The State Government is constantly monitoring the overall situation due to the rains and coordinating with various departments so that rescue, relief work and risk reduction in case of any kind of disaster can be done. On May 28, the State Government has instructed the district magistrates of all the districts of the state to take necessary preparations, steps, workers and volunteers engaged in relief and rescue work to be ready. NDRF or SDRF in all the districts have been asked to be ready with necessary equipment. The revenue department is constantly in touch with the district magistrates.

Additional Secretary of the Revenue Department, Tamal Majumdar, and State Project Officer (Disaster Management) Sharat Das were present in today’s press conference.
