Khowai, Tripura, 7th of September, 2026 : In a major anti-drug operation, Baijalbari Police intercepted a luxury Maruti vehicle suspected of carrying narcotic substances. During a search, officers recovered 142 bottles of Phensidyl that had been concealed inside the vehicle’s fuel tank. Police subsequently seized the vehicle and detained its driver.
According to police sources, Baijalbari Police Station OC Samaresh Chakma had been receiving information for the past few days that narcotic substances were being transported late at night in luxury Maruti vehicles. Acting on the information, police began keeping a close watch on the matter and launched surveillance operations.
On Sunday, police once again received a large quantity of narcotic substances was being transported in a luxury Maruti vehicle for illegal distribution. On the secret information, personnel from Baijalbari Police Station launched an operation. A special operation was conducted at the Belphang Naka under the leadership of OC Samaresh Chakma and Second OC Tilak Jamatia.
During the operation, police intercepted a luxury Maruti vehicle bearing registration number TR 01 CH 0592. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered a total of 142 bottles of Phensidyl, which had been cleverly concealed inside the fuel tank. In connection with the incident, police detained the driver along with the vehicle and brought them to the police station for further investigation.
