Dharmanagar, Tripura, 12th of May 2026 : During a surprise visit to the North Tripura District Hospital, Left MLA of Yuva Rajnagar constituency, Shailendra Chandra Nath, inspected several important issues related to hospital infrastructure and patient services. During the visit, he toured different departments of the hospital and interacted with patients and their family members to understand the ground reality.

During the inspection, the MLA expressed serious concern over the critically low stock of various blood groups in the hospital’s blood bank. He stated that the shortage of adequate blood could put the lives of patients at risk, especially in cases of accidents, surgeries, maternity emergencies, and other critical treatments. He emphasized the need for organizing more blood donation camps and increasing public awareness about voluntary blood donation at the earliest.
The MLA also voiced deep concern over the absence of separate isolation rooms for infectious patients in the hospital. During the visit, he observed that tuberculosis patients were being kept in general wards, which could increase the risk of infection spreading among other patients, their relatives, and hospital staff. In the interest of public health safety and improved medical services, he urged the state government to immediately establish an isolation ward and ensure separate treatment facilities for infectious disease patients. He also appealed to the concerned authorities to seriously consider upgrading the overall infrastructure of the district hospital, strengthening emergency healthcare services, and ensuring an adequate supply of essential medical equipment and resources.
According to local residents, prompt intervention by the administration and the health department is now essential to ensure safe and improved healthcare services for the people.
