Dharmanagar, Tripura, 21st of May 2026 : The Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee of the CPI(M) organized a protest demonstration in Dharmanagar on Thursday, raising five major demands, including action over the NEET-2026 question paper leak, rising prices of essential commodities, poor healthcare services at Dharmanagar District Hospital, abnormal fuel price hikes, and the withdrawal of labour codes in favour of restoring labour laws.Around 12 noon, a protest rally started from the CPI(M) Dharmanagar sub-divisional office premises. The rally marched through various important roads of the town while participants voiced slogans supporting their demands.Among those present at the programme were CPI(M) State Secretariat member Amitabh Dutta, Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Secretary Ratan Roy, along with several local leaders, party workers, and supporters.

The protesters demanded strict punishment for those involved in the alleged NEET-2026 question paper leak scam. They also called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded a transparent and corruption-free education system. Protesters further stressed the need to protect the interests of students, teachers, guardians, and future generations.The demonstrators also demanded the revival of MGNREGA with 200 days of guaranteed work annually and a daily wage of ₹600. Simultaneously, they protested against the rising prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, CNG, life-saving medicines, and essential commodities.
CPI(M) leaders also expressed concern over the present condition of Dharmanagar District Hospital. According to them, anti-social activities inside and outside the hospital premises have increased, while healthcare services have deteriorated due to a shortage of specialist doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers.
The party further alleged that contractual sanitation workers are not receiving their rightful wages on time. Through the protest programme, the CPI(M) strongly demanded improvement of the hospital’s overall environment and healthcare services, recruitment of adequate doctors and healthcare staff, timely payment of fair wages to sanitation workers, and the repeal of labour codes considered anti-worker.
