Sabroom, Tripura, 30th of July, 2026 : According to report miscreants allegedly poured poison into the pond belonging to the ruling party leader. The incident took place in West Harina Gram Panchayat, Satchand RD Block under the Sabroom Police Station in Sabroom Subdivision. It is alleged that miscreants poured poison into the pond at the residence of the current ruling party Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Shikha Das, last night and fled from the spot.

On Wednesday (29th July, 2026) morning, the family members woke up and went towards the pond, where they found all the fish either floating in the pond or lying near the pond bank. Seeing the situation, the family members were left shocked.
After hearing the incident early in the morning, local residents rushed to the spot. The matter was informed to the Sabroom Police Station.

Sabroom Police reached the spot and conducted an on-site inspection. During a conversation with Gram Panchayat Pradhan Shikha Das, she informed the police that no family member had witnessed who poured poison into the pond. However, it is suspected that miscreants entered the area late at night and poisoned the pond before fleeing.
The police have started an investigation after receiving a written complaint from the family. According to the family, around five quintals of fish have been affected, with the current market value estimated to be over ₹1.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, concerns have started growing among conscious citizens of Sabroom, with many questioning, “What is happening in Sabroom?” Last Monday, miscreants allegedly cut down and destroyed the rubber plantation of impoverished resident Lakhan Das of Damdama, shattering his dream of building a rubber plantation with borrowed money.

Meanwhile, on the previous night, unidentified miscreants allegedly poisoned the pond at the residence of the West Harina Gram Panchayat Pradhan, killing all the fish in the pond.
Concerned citizens of Sabroom have demanded that the police identify those involved in such incidents and take strict action against them. They expressed concern that if such miscreant activities are not controlled, similar incidents may continue to increase and cause further emotional and financial harm to people.
