Border Security Force, 200 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar organized a free cataract eye surgery camp at TMC (Agartala) on 04/08/2023 under the Civic Action Programme for the year 2023-24. It has always been the endeavor of the Border Security Force to stand by the border population in their needs during the course of their duty. Accordingly, BSF takes care for the needs of border population. It was observed that, there are many villages in the AOR of 200 Bn BSF where many cataract patients have lost their eye sight due to lack of medical facilities and proper medical guidance.

Keeping this in mind, 200 Bn BSF Gokulnagar under the aegis of Tripura Medical College, Hapania organized a free cataract eye surgery camp phase-I on 04.08.2023 in which 13 patients received high quality eye lenses and related medicines, free of cost by BSF. Futher in phase-II camp another remaining 21 patients will undergo free cataract surgery.

During this camp, checkup of patient/screening of eyes were carried out with the help of Department of Ophthalmology, Tripura Medical College Agartala and post-operative medicines were also distributed free of cost. Sh. Mukesh Kumar Verma, 2IC/Offg Commandant, 200 Bn BSF and Dr. L N Chemdok, Medical Officer, 200 Bn BSF interacted with patients and their attendants. The patients expressed their heartfelt gratitude to BSF for restoring their lost vision. Dr. A K Chakma, Professor & HOD of Department of Ophthalmology Tripura Medical College along with his team of doctors and medical staff helped in successful completion of this eye surgery camp.
