Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates The Voluntary Blood Donation Camp.

Agartala, Tripura, 18th of May, 2026 : With the initiative of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura Voluntary Blood Donation camp organized  on the occasion of International Nurses Day at Agartala Govt. Dental College Auditorium, IGM Hospital Complex, Agartala, Tripura on Sunday (17th May, 2026).

The theme for International Nurses Day 2026 is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”.

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation camp by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.

Addressing at the the Voluntary Blood Donation camp Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that  Blood donation is the greatest gift in the world. There is no substitute for blood, and we must move forward with the goal that not a single life is lost prematurely due to the lack of blood. Blood reminds us that the greatest religion of humanity is humanism. Blood has no caste, religion, or discrimination. It teaches us that we are all one and bound by the ties of humanity. Organizing this blood donation camp as part of the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and International Nurses Day is a highly commendable initiative.

“The role of nurses in the healthcare sector is extremely important. The reputation of a hospital and the recovery of patients largely depend on the dedication and sense of responsibility of the nurses. Not everyone gets the opportunity to serve humanity, but nurses and healthcare workers are fulfilling this noble duty every day. Therefore, their work is not just a profession, but also a humanitarian commitment. He advised doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers to remain sincere and compassionate towards patients and their families.”, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said.

Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that many times the families of patients remain in a deeply distressed mental state. At such moments, sympathetic behavior and humane treatment become a great source of strength for them. The Chief Minister also highlighted various aspects of the present state government’s efforts to improve healthcare services. He said that through welfare-oriented schemes such as the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana  and the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, common people are receiving the benefits of improved healthcare services. He also mentioned that the infant mortality rate in the state has significantly decreased.

“The government is continuously taking initiatives for the infrastructural development of various hospitals in the state, including AGMC and IGM, the expansion of modern medical facilities, and the advancement of health education. The government remains alert to meet the demand for blood in the state’s blood banks. Compared to last year, the amount of blood collected so far this year has increased significantly. In the financial year 2025–26, a total of 44,309 units of blood have been collected in the state so far. According to norms, a state should maintain blood reserves equivalent to nearly one percent of its population.”, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister visited the blood donation camp and encouraged the blood donors. The welcome address at the programme was delivered by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Director of the Health Department, Dr. Debashree Debbarma. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Dr. Anjan Das, Director of the Health Rights and Disease Prevention Department, and the Registrar of the Tripura Nursing Council, many other distinguished  dignitaries were present in the event.
