Agartala, Tripura, 29th of July, 2026 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today said that mothers and teachers play the most vital role in shaping a child’s life, while emphasizing the importance of preserving India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He was addressing the Guru Purnima celebrations held at the premises of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that a mother is a child’s first teacher, while a guru serves as the principal guide in education and spiritual initiation. Describing Sanatan Dharma as India’s ancient religion, he said it promotes moral values, discipline and social reforms without discrimination based on caste, religion or colour. He added that visiting temples and learning about various deities helps people imbibe principles, ideals and morality.
The Chief Minister paid his respects to all gurus on the occasion of Guru Purnima and said that respecting teachers, serving the needy and engaging in philanthropic activities are essential to setting an example of humanity. He also stressed the importance of maintaining purity of mind. Referring to India’s religious heritage, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said that although several temples were attacked during the Mughal era, the traditions of Sanatan Dharma have endured through the centuries. He said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, several initiatives were launched for the renovation and restoration of ancient temples, mosques and churches across the country, helping revive their historical significance.

He urged the younger generation to embrace indigenous culture instead of blindly following Western influences and advised children to follow the ideals and teachings of their parents and teachers. Earlier, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by the Math authorities. He and 12 religious gurus were felicitated with stole and flower bouquet. Before the programme, Dr. Saha offered prayers, performed Aarti to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Madan Mohan Baldev Subhadra Jagannath Jeu, and lit the ceremonial Mangal Pradeep.

The programme was also addressed by the present Acharya of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math, Param Pujyapada Sri Sri Madabhakti Bichar Vishnu Goswami Maharaj. Among those present were All India Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math President Bhakti Bichar Vishnu Maharaj, Agartala Municipal Corporation Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Jagannath Bari Math Rakshak Tridandi Swami Bhakti Kamal Vaishnav Maharaj, along with other religious leaders and social workers.
