Education Crisis At Sribhumi Vidyabhavan: Students And Parents Demand Immediate Appointment Of Subject Teachers.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of July 2026 : Serious concern and resentment have emerged among students and education-conscious parents over the prolonged shortage of subject teachers and the deteriorating academic environment at Sribhumi Vidyabhavan Higher Secondary School under Dharmanagar Subdivision. For the past three to four years, the school has reportedly been functioning without permanent subject teachers for Philosophy and Education (Pedagogy)—two important Higher Secondary subjects. As a result, students have expressed deep dissatisfaction and frustration over the quality of education they are receiving.

According to the allegations, general graduate teachers have been assigned to conduct Philosophy classes despite not being subject specialists. Similarly, there has been no teacher for the Education subject, forcing students to continue their studies without proper academic guidance. Students claim that they are unable to grasp the fundamental concepts of these subjects, leading to a gradual loss of interest.

Questions have also been raised over why such an important school in North Tripura has remained neglected. Parents have criticized the Education Department for its alleged indifference and failure to address the issue despite the vacancy continuing for several years.The school’s geographical importance has also been highlighted. It is the only Higher Secondary school within a radius of approximately 5–6 kilometres, serving students from several remote villages who travel daily to attend classes. Despite their eagerness to study, many students are being deprived of quality education in their chosen subjects due to the absence of qualified teachers.

Students and parents have jointly demanded the immediate appointment of permanent teachers for Philosophy and Education at Sribhumi Vidyabhavan. They have warned that if the authorities fail to take prompt action, they will be compelled to launch a larger democratic movement to safeguard the academic future of the students.
