Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of July 2026 : A massive crowd of people from the minority community gathered at the Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in North Tripura to submit applications for financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Scheme.
As July 21 is the last date for submitting application forms and required documents, the rush reached its peak on Monday. According to sources, although the application process began on June 22, more than a thousand applicants from different parts of the district arrived at the SDM office on the final days, resulting in long queues and severe congestion.
Several applicants alleged that while a token system had been introduced to manage the crowd, it was not being implemented effectively. They claimed that despite waiting in line for hours with tokens, some individuals were able to enter the office and submit their documents without following the token system, causing inconvenience to those who were waiting in an orderly manner.
Applicants urged the administration to enforce the token system strictly, open additional counters, and make the application process more transparent and well-organized so that people would not have to wait for long periods.
Responding to the issue, an official of the concerned department stated that applications and supporting documents would continue to be accepted until July 21. The submission process is being conducted daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The administration has also assured that necessary arrangements will remain in place until the last day to ensure the convenience of all applicants.
