Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of March, 2026 : In view of the ensuing by-election to the 56 Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, authorities have intensified vehicle checking at various naka (checkpoint) points to ensure strict compliance with the Election Commission of India (ECI) norms.

According to official sources, multiple naka points have been set up at key entry and exit routes as well as strategic locations across the town. Joint teams of police and administration are conducting thorough inspections of vehicles to detect any suspicious movement, including the transportation of unaccounted cash, liquor, or other prohibited items.
An official stated that the initiative aims to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process. The enforcement teams are acting in accordance with ECI guidelines to prevent any illegal activities that could influence voters.The administration also believes that such stringent checking measures are helping to instill a sense of security and transparency among the public, while ensuring that no untoward incidents take place during the election period.
